IDEA RELIEF

Immediate Disaster and Emergency Assistance

IDEA is a marine based emergency relief agency tasked with providing assistance in the first 12-48 hours after a hurricane departs.

ABOUT OUR NGO

Ready to Help

IDEA was birthed in response to the devastation of hurricane Dorian where we successfully coordinated the evacuation of over 600 people on private vessels from the Abaco mainland & cays during a 3 day period until the airports reopened. In addition to evacuations, we facilitated medical support, search & rescue transport, and supply chain logistical support for the Government of The Bahamas, NGO's and private citizens in the impacted areas.

GOALS

Going Forward

While IDEA relief efforts are ongoing in Abaco and Grand Bahama, we are simultaneously preparing for the 2020 hurricane season by laying out and implementing a private sector response plan to emergencies in the Bahamian islands in conjunction with appropriate governmental agencies, international NGO's and key island partners.
Ultimately our aim is to establish a network of first responders to work in tandem with the relevant authorities as emergencies arise to ensure actions taken in these situations are done so with accurate data, and the necessary local knowledge for successful operations.
